Automation & Controls Engineer
Southwestern Nebraska, US
$101,000–$132,000 + Benefits + Relocation Assistance

Must be authorized to work in USA

The Opportunity
Join a leading sugar beet processing company as an Automation & Controls Engineer, where you’ll play a key role in driving automation strategies that power multiple production facilities. This is a hands-on role with visibility across operations, offering both technical challenge and career growth.

Why Join Us

  • Competitive pay ($101K–$132K) with full benefits package.
  • Opportunity to work on impactful, large-scale automation projects.
  • High visibility role reporting directly to the VP of Engineering.
  • Diverse, challenging work with travel (30–50%) across multiple sites — never the same day twice.
  • Be part of a collaborative culture that values safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, program, and maintain PLC and HMI systems (Allen-Bradley, FactoryTalk).
  • Build and optimize plant automation networks and communication systems.
  • Lead project execution — from scope and budget planning to commissioning and troubleshooting.
  • Create control documentation (narratives, cause/effect, P&IDs) to support reliable operations.
  • Partner with engineers and operations teams to deliver safe, efficient, and innovative solutions.
  • Provide engineering support that directly impacts plant performance and reliability.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related).
  • 5+ years in process automation & controls.
  • Strong background with Allen-Bradley PLCs, FactoryTalk HMIs, and industrial networks.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC circuits, low-voltage power distribution, and control systems (PID, temp, pressure, level).
  • Ability to read and create technical drawings, AutoCAD, and P&IDs.
  • Collaborative, results-driven mindset with excellent communication skills.
