Position Overview
We’re working with a leading sugar refinery in northeast Colorado that is seeking a Purchasing Agent & Storeroom Supervisor to join their plant leadership team. This is a hands-on, high-impact role responsible for managing all aspects of the purchasing process, inventory control, and storeroom operations. You’ll ensure the timely procurement of materials and services at the best value—while keeping production moving and internal customers satisfied.
This position reports to the Purchasing Director, with a dotted line to the Maintenance Manager, and requires excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Place, track, and expedite Purchase Orders using SAP, ensuring timely delivery and cost efficiency.
- Lead and mentor storeroom staff, ensuring accurate inventory and strong vendor relationships.
- Support production and maintenance teams by proactively fulfilling material and equipment needs.
- Verify requisitions, recommend alternatives, and coordinate supplier quotes to ensure optimal sourcing.
- Monitor procurement requests and ensure inventory levels align with operational needs.
- Collaborate with AP and plant personnel to confirm order receipt and resolve any delivery discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with safety and inventory management practices, including PPE and vending programs.
- Coordinate with preferred suppliers to maintain appropriate stock levels and avoid outages.
- Conduct cycle counts and maintain accuracy across all inventory and storeroom locations.
- Drive continuous improvement in cost savings, delivery reliability, and process efficiency.
Qualifications & Skills

- 2–3 years of purchasing or inventory management experience preferred—but open to developing early-career talent with the right mindset.
- Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and the ability to influence across teams.
- Customer-service focused, with a proactive and collaborative approach.
- Experience with safety practices, behavior-based safety, and root cause analysis is a plus.
Why This Opportunity?
- Well-established employer in a stable industry.
- Key role supporting core plant operations.
- Growth potential and strong internal support.
