Job Title: QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER

Department: Quality
Control

Reports To: Complex QA Manager

FLSA Status: Salaried, Exempt

Description:

 

Ideal candidate will manage all aspects of quality assurance, food safety, and regulatory compliance in our production facility, including the management of Quality Assurance staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Ensure that the facility is in full compliance with all relevant USDA,
FDA, and regulatory guidelines established for food manufacturing.

  • Enforce current good manufacturing practices (GMP’s) and all relevant company
    policies and food safety regulations.
  • Review QA paperwork (HACCP, SSOP’s, and weight check sheets) on a daily
    basis.
  • Maintain and develop Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs for the
    facility. Programs included are:
    - Raw material inspections and
    determination of quality and usability of product prior to production.
    - Proper product rotation.
    - Revise employee sanitation
    guidelines and training programs (food hygiene) as necessary.
    - Microbiological testing procedures.
    - Maintain the facility's HACCP plans
    and all associated documentation.
    - Swabbing program / environmental
    testing.
  • Reporting to Purchasing of problematic items from vendors.
  • Develop preventative QA programs to catch problems before they develop.
  • Train all employees on all procedures and guidelines. Implement follow-up
    training on basic food handling procedures for existing and new employees.
  • Instill a quality approach in all new employees.
  • Maintain the facility sanitation programs (Sanitation Standard Operating
    Procedures (SSOP’s) and Sanitation Performance Standards (SPS) in compliance
    with all applicable FDA and USDA regulations.
  • Maintain BOM (bill of materials) files, formulas, batch sheets and
    specification files.
  • Respond to any customer comment, concerns, problems, and/or questions
    regarding a quality or sanitation issue.
  • Prepare product samples for bids/RFP’s, Sales and customer requests.

  • Other duties as assigned by Division QA Manager or Plant Manager.

Requirements:

- Education and/or Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Meat Science, Microbiology or related
field. Dairy Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Biology is
required. - Food Science degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in
supervising/managing employees in a manufacturing, food processing, or quality
assurance environment.

- Knowledge of food industry quality assurance, federal food safety
regulations, sanitation, HACCP systems and current good manufacturing
practices.

- Knowledge of food microbiology, general
microbiology, food hygiene, and food safety.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
