Process Engineer; Sugar Beet Refinery; western Nebraska

 

Overview:
Our client, a leading Sugar Refinery, seeks a dynamic Process Engineer to oversee operations at their Molasses Desugarization facility in Western Nebraska. This role reports directly to the Process Manager and requires a blend of mechanical and chemical engineering expertise. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership qualities, a commitment to safety, and a passion for optimizing production processes.

 

Essential Functions

  • Safety Leadership: Lead by example in maintaining a zero-injury workplace. Collaborate with teams to execute the site safety plan.
  • Production Optimization: Direct and organize shift personnel to maximize efficiency in sugar beet processing.
  • Process Management: Communicate effectively with shift supervisors to ensure smooth process transitions and adherence to quality standards.
  • Training and Development: Ensure comprehensive training of personnel in process controls and safety protocols.
  • Continuous Improvement: Utilize data analysis to identify trends and opportunities for enhancing process efficiency and quality.
  • Industry Knowledge: Stay updated with industry best practices and technological advancements to drive innovation in processing methods.
  • Problem Solving: Implement root cause analysis to address operational challenges and prevent recurrence.
  • Performance Accountability: Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and employ continuous improvement strategies to meet performance targets.
  • Labor Relations: Administer the collective bargaining agreement and address employee grievances promptly.
  • Leadership: Uphold core values of Safety, Integrity, Openness & Trust, Teamwork, Entrepreneurship, and Social Responsibility.
  • Customer Focus: Support a customer-centric strategy by ensuring high product quality and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

 

Additional Requirements

  • Field Engagement: Spend 90% of work time in operational areas, providing hands-on support and troubleshooting.
  • Work Schedule: Availability for extended hours and weekend work, as necessary.

 

Skill & Experience Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in process engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Skills:
    • Proven track record in safety, productivity, and quality improvements.
    • Strong communication skills across all organizational levels.
    • Familiarity with Lean Sigma and Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
    • Customer-focused mindset and strong leadership abilities.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Results-oriented with high energy and collaborative spirit.

 

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 per year.
  • Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package and relocation assistance available.
